Greens, Growth, and God’s Design: The Power of Daily Nourishment
Every January, I feel that familiar restlessness. The garden is sleeping under Indiana’s winter, the soil is quiet, and my hands miss tending something green.
So I bring the garden inside.
Sprouts are my simple winter ritual. They grow right on the counter, quietly doing their thing, and my whole family loves them. My daughters light up everytime they come home to visit when they see that little circle of green, so I always make sure a fresh batch is waiting just for them. It’s a small act of care, but it reminds me how nourishment is often found in the simple things.
And honestly, sprouts are the perfect picture of what our bodies crave this time of year.

Why Daily Greens Matter
Adding a small handful of sprouts or greens to even two meals a day does more than make you feel “healthy.”
It supports your body at the root.
Daily greens help:
gentle detoxification
better digestion
more stable energy
clearer skin
stronger immunity
After holiday heaviness, your body welcomes anything that feels clean, fresh, and straightforward.
Growth Happens Quietly
Sprouts don’t need much.
A little water. A little light. A little patience.
You don’t see much happening at first, but every day brings a bit more life.
And that’s how inner growth works too.
You show up. You give yourself what you can. You trust the process God is working out in you.
Nothing rushed. Nothing forced. Just steady transformation in the quiet spaces.

Primary Food Matters Just as Much
What you eat matters, but what surrounds you shapes your health just as deeply.
Your primary foods are the things you can’t put on a plate:
your relationships
your home environment
your faith
your joy
your sense of purpose
When these areas feel nourished, everything else becomes more sustainable. Your habits stick more easily. Your body relaxes. Your mind becomes clearer.
This is why a whole-life approach works. It honors the way God designed us to grow.
A Simple Practice for This Month
Each morning, take a moment to ask:
“What kind of nourishment do I need today… body, mind, or spirit?”
Then give yourself just one small thing to bring some goodness to your soul.
Maybe that’s having coffee with a friend or adding sprouts to your lunch.
Maybe it’s making space for prayer.
Maybe it’s letting yourself rest without guilt.
Small things change us when we stay consistent.

If You Need Support
If you’re craving steady growth this year instead of the pressure to “start strong,” you’re right where you need to be.
You don’t have to figure this out alone.
Together, we’ll help you grow in the ways that matter most.
