Health Coach’s Advice for Women with Adrenal Fatigue

Have you ever felt so tired that no amount of rest helps?

You crash during the day but can’t fall asleep at night.

Your brain won’t shut off, your body feels wired, and nothing seems to work anymore.

If that sounds familiar, you're not alone. And no, you're not crazy or broken.

What you may be dealing with is something called adrenal fatigue– and one of the most frustrating symptoms that comes with it? Insomnia — trouble falling asleep or staying asleep.

Let’s talk about what’s really going on inside your body and what you can do to finally feel better.

First, what are your adrenals?

Your adrenal glands are two little organs that sit on top of your kidneys. Their job is to make stress hormones, like cortisol and adrenaline.

These hormones help you:

✅ Wake up in the morning

✅ Handle stress, and

✅ Respond to danger

But when you're under stress for a long time — like working long hours, juggling kids and work, not sleeping enough, or dealing with emotional stress — your adrenals can start to wear out. That's what people mean when they talk about adrenal fatigue.

When your adrenals are tired, they don't make the right amount of cortisol anymore. Instead of giving you energy in the morning and helping you sleep at night, your hormones get all out of balance.

So how does this lead to insomnia?

Cortisol is like your body's natural coffee. It should be high in the morning to help you wake up, and then slowly go down during the day so you can relax and sleep at night.

But if you’re stressed all the time, your cortisol rhythm gets flipped. You might have low cortisol in the morning (so you feel super tired) and high cortisol at night (which makes you feel wide awake when you should be winding down).

This is why you might:

  • Feel exhausted all day

  • Get a burst of energy at night

  • Lie in bed with your mind racing

  • Wake up at 2 or 3 a.m. and can’t fall back asleep

Sound familiar?

Why sleep aids aren’t the answer

A lot of women try things like melatonin, magnesium, CBD, or sleep meds, and while these might help short-term, they don’t fix the real problem.

Think of it like this:

if your house was on fire, would you just turn off the smoke alarm? Or would you put out the fire?

Sleep aids often turn off the alarm, but your adrenal health is the fire. Until we calm the stress response and help your hormones get back into balance, your sleep struggles will likely continue.

Here's what actually works (and it starts during the day)

Healing adrenal fatigue isn’t about doing one magical thing. It’s about creating a rhythm that supports your body all day long so it can rest at night.

Let’s break it down into simple steps:

1. Start your day with food

Eating within an hour of waking helps stabilize your blood sugar and tells your body it's safe. Skipping breakfast or having only coffee can spike your cortisol.

Try something with protein and healthy fat like scrambled eggs with avocado or a smoothie with nut butter.

2. Balance your blood sugar all day

Blood sugar crashes tell your body you're in danger — and that stresses out your adrenals. Eat regular meals with a balance of protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Avoid going too long without eating, and skip the sugar rollercoaster.

3. Get some morning sunlight

Sunlight in the morning helps reset your body’s internal clock (called your circadian rhythm). This helps cortisol rise in the morning and fall at night — the way it should.

Even 10 minutes outside can make a difference.

4. Create a calming evening routine

Wind down with activities that calm your nervous system: a warm bath, stretching, reading, or journaling. Avoid screens at least 30 minutes before bed, because blue light can trick your brain into staying awake.

5. Ditch the guilt

Rest is not lazy. If your body is tired, it needs support. Say no to things that drain you. Create space to breathe, to be, and to heal.

What real healing looks like: Let’s get you sleeping properly again

This isn’t about being perfect. You don’t need a 20-step routine or fancy supplements. You just need a plan that works with your body instead of against it.

There are some clients who reach out for help, because they feel like a zombie. They were barely sleeping, relying on caffeine, and pushing through her days.

This is exactly one of the things the Adrenal Recovery Protocol solves for people: help them fall asleep easily and wake up with energy for the first time in years.

This kind of transformation is possible for you too.

If your sleep has become a nightly battle and your energy is nowhere to be found, I want to invite you to take the first step. Download the Adrenal Recovery Protocol to understand what's really going on in your body and start making small, doable changes.

You’re allowed to give your body the REAL rest and recovery it’s been begging for. You don’t have to stay stuck in survival mode. You can heal. You can sleep. And you can feel like yourself again.
